How These Clinics Were Selected

These clinics were selected by The Center for Health Design in conjunction with an independent advisory group as part of a project funded by the California HealthCare Foundation to understand Community Clinic Design. This list is by no means exhaustive. There are many clinics solving real world problems in innovative ways that are not included here, which is not indicative of anything other than the timeframe and scope of the original project. What Attributes Were Examined

The physical environment features and community attributes of safety-net facilities throughout the United States were examined through on-site visits and/or telephone-interviews with the Primary Care Clinic's CEOs, clinic managers, facility managers, and board members. Many of the facilities vary in size, services offered, and the type of setting in which they occur (rural, suburban, and urban).
